Lately I've been worrying about this whole photography business thing, and what its going to take to make things work. To be honest, I'm quite terrified to get started, so I've been stuck in the "creative" stage. But today I did a photo shoot with a very adorable couple and realized that if I didn't put myself out there, it wouldn't have happened at all.
Then, as I was sitting around on Facebook, someone asked me if I would be willing to do a shoot for their brother. We discussed the occasion and some of the circumstances, and pretty soon they were asking what I charged! I've never been asked this question before, except once but I wasn't able to take the job. So you could imagine my happiness. Of course, I had to do some research on what other people are charging, and think about a fair yet fulfilling price range for my own business.
Needless to say, I believe I am making some serious progress, whether the person takes the offer or not. I guess what I'm really trying to say is that today's lessons learned would have to be, 1. good things come to those who wait, 2. you should always be doing something productive while you wait, and 3. Sometimes looking before you leap takes the thrill out of the fall. Jumping right in may have been the best idea I've ever had. :)
